West Indies Cricket World Cup squad Announced

Many unexpected events happened in the selection of the squad of West Indies. After an untiring debate the final world cup squad of West Indies had been announced yesterday.


The squad includes:

• Jason Holder as Captain
• Marlon Samuels as Vice Captain
 • Denesh Ramdin as wicket keeper
 • Chris Gayle • Darren Sammy
• Jonathan Carter • Sunil Narine
• Darren Bravo
• Lendi Simmons
 • Dwayne Smith
 • Andre Russell
 • Jerome Taylor
 • Sheldon Cottrell
 • Remar Roach
• Sulieman Benn

The former West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo is neglected from the West Indies world cup cricket squad. Sunil Narine who made good performance in last matches and in IPL had been selected in the squad. Pollard who is good in all sorts of playing in cricket is neglected from the team.

 When asked about the rejection of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard , the WICB states that they are taken out so that younger generation can get their chance. Though the reason given by the WICB was valid, Michael Holding the former West Indies fast bowler said that Pollard and Bravo are punished by the WICB for their activities that happened during the Indian tour. Sheldon Cottrell and Jonathan Carter are new player yet to make debut in international match and they are going to face South African team in a five series match that is about to begin soon.

The opener for the team is Chris Gayle who has a lot of Cricketing Experience especially in ODI. Lloyd a captain who won world cup two times stated “This is very prestigious World, one of the biggest sporting events on the international calendar and it is a huge opportunity to create something historic and memorable for West Indies cricket and the people of the region” about the world cup event.
